Gotta give some loving to Autoweek. Not only are they putting the Aero-X on the cover, there’s the 9-3 SportCombi in a brief writeup as well – though I got my usual beef with that.
But to the cover first. If you’re not a regular Autoweek buyer, you can still get yourself a copy of the cover by clicking here. It’s a PDF document from the Autoweek site. Here, on my mate Ed’s old dialup system it had a hard time downloading. I’m sure it’ll pose few problems though.
The Aero-X also gets a mention in an Autoweek poll. They asked their readers which of the Editors Choice award winners was the best of the bunch. The result? See for yourself
Interestingly there’s a comment on an earlier post from
M-Jacek, a Saab dealer in the US who mentions that he’s already received three calls from people wanting to know when they might be able to get an Aero-X.
Build it and they will come.
Autoweek also have a brief drive of the Saab 9-3 SportCombi to write about. I’d go all apedroppings about this line….
Yes, I know it’s nearly as much an Opel as the 9-7X is a Chevy, but for a guy who cut his teeth in this business driving hatchback 90s and 900s in the mid-1980s, this 9-3 drives like a Saab.
…..but I’m still a bit jumpy from "The Bartman Incident".
That line aside, Mr Wilson seems to have found himself a toy he could have a lot of fun in.
I’m sure I could do better if I tried, fuel mileage-wise… but I didn’t. I was having too much fun, remembering this is the way Saabs used to inspire me—and with a hatchback, too! I was going to complain about the price, but the last Volkswagen Passat we drove had a 200-hp four and cost almost this much. I think I’d rather drive this Saab.
I’ve just been informed yesterday that there’s a 9-3 SportCombi at the dealership here in Hobart, so I’ll be off this weekend to take a peek (Thanks Fudgy).
OK, so it’s not Autoweek, but it’ll likely be worth a click. I have NOT listened to this yet due to being at a mate’s place on his dialup machine, but I’ll post it for what it’s worth.
Autoblog’s latest podcast has their thoughts on the Aero-X. Whatever they are, I couldn’t tell you. But if you want to have a listen for yourself, click here.
