Just to let you know, I’m currently in Tasmania’s northwest. A city called Burnie. Posting will continue to be infrequent for the next few days, but I’m trying to do ‘heavier’ posts to make up for the lack of quantity.

Tomorrow I take the trip inland to deepest darkest Queenstown where internet access in hotels is a thing of the future. ‘Tis not a friendly place. Please pray!

And if anyone’s in this neck of the woods in the future, I can thoroughly recommend taking the road through Hellyer Gorge between Somerset and Waratah. Bloody amazing. I wish I had a video camera.

  1. Glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed aspects of your travels. I can volunteer one thing: if you’re looking for aesthetically pleasing travel, you can strike Wichita, Kansas from your list of place to visit. Oy, what a disappointment…

  2. Eggs,

The road to Queenstown is an absolute blast to drive. It’s just a shame that the town at the end of it is such a hole.

The chairs in my hotel room look like they were furniture in one of the less inspiring scenes in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Old brown vinyl and as comfortable as a housebrick.

Sheesh. Queenstown and Wichita. Sister cities.

  3. argh Queenstown, what a F**king hole that place is, Deliverance scary!!

but i do concur the drive is a damm blast, did it last year in a 12 Saab convoy.

    al 🙂
