Tuesday Short Snippets

If you’re looking for your national Saab Director/General Manager/Head Honcho next week then forget about it. Chances are he/she might be joining other D’s in Trollhattan for a little soiree.

One country’s grand poobah was recently asked what his coming trip to Sweden was for (not by me, this is hearsay, folks). When it was suggested that the visit had something to do with a new model, the suggestion was met with a wry smile.

Make of that what you will. I’m thinking 2008 9-3.

My San Antonio has uncovered a Saab Scoop of epic proportions, telling their readers all about the 2007 Saab 9-2x:

Or maybe they haven’t. Every chance they’re just dumbasses.

Here’s a new one to throw into the 9-1 mix.

GM are developing a new global platform called Gamma. From Autoblog:

Sources are saying that GM is working on a new small car platform known internally as Gamma. This platform could be the basis for the next Opel Corsa and Chevrolet Aveo, and could ultimately support models with an annual volume of 1.4 million cars starting in 2009. Although unconfirmed, Gammas could be built in Korea, China, Thailand, India, Germany, Eastern Europe, Mexico and Venezuela.

Anything’s possible. I think I like the idea of Delta a little better. This Gamma things sounds a little too small to me.

And what’s with all the old Greek anyway? Why can’t they name platforms after fruits or rockstars or something? Just thinking in print….

  1. I’ll bet the author just went to the SaabUSA web site for the info. It’s still listed there, but only as a 2006 model. He probably thought the “2006” was a mistake, or didn’t notice it.

  2. I might agree with you, except the article also misdescribes the 9-5 as having two models with “230 and 250 hp.” Not something from SaabUSA.com, I think.

Or how about rockstars that are also fruits? Maybe call it the Elton.
