Someone buy this!

Please, can someone I know get hold of this car?! My wife’s about to divorce me as she thinks I’m in love with another car again. Maybe I am.

I’m trying to figure out a way that I could buy it, but right now I don’t see any hope. But if someone I know buys it then at least I could come visit occasionally. I’d play with it and care for it and pet it.

Please, someone. Do it for the children, or the whales, or the fluffy polar bears. For whatever reason, just make sure this car ends up in the hands of someone that cares!!

Some info: It’s in Melbourne, has done 260k and they’re asking $6,400 (which is a bit much IMHO). There’s an issue with 2nd gear and some cracks in the dash (money holders). It’s got some super-duper 16″ wheels and a tweaked APC.

  1. This is the danger ground for Saab obsessives. I have been caught with this kind of car before.

Swade, don’t do it mate. Think of all those other little bits that will need fixing and the rest that will drive ya nuts so you will just have to do them too..

In the UK it might fetch about £3,000 pounds right now- less given the woes.

Run Swade, run, or I will send you my Saab owning Shrink’s number!

  3. The price on this is simply too high. And a lot rides on what the specific “issue” is with second gear (maybe it’s the linkage, a cheap fix, or it’s not the linkage, meaning full-blown transmission issues).

Swade, you know the old line about the road to hell and good intentions?

Well, let’s just say I’m now five Saabs down the road.

Don’t do it. Save your money for Viggen upgrades, the SOC trip, and a better (cheaper) c900 down the road.

  4. I saw this one advertised quite some time back, and it is obvious why it hasn’t sold. Tweaked APC plus early 16V gearbox plus 260K adds up to a re-build. The leather interior is missing too. He’s asking far too much for it.

  5. Yeah, I know….I know.

    It just looks so…….good!

It’s about $3,000 overpriced given the missing leather and gearbox issues but boy, that’s one fine looking car.

And Greg, that 99T will redeem you when it’s done.

  6. what i’ve learnt recently from my g/f’s old man is that if you’re buying say land, a house or a car you like but can afford to pass up/miss out on, is to be really insulting with your offers!

i’d offer about $2,500… initially he’ll be terribly insulted even if you explain the car’s about to need a few grand’s worth spent on it. then in two weeks after a few more people pass up on it, he’ll realise your right and may just accept.

of course, the car will still need all that work, which may just be more effort than is worth. unfortunately (outside of Drew’s garage) there aren’t many unmolested low kay 900s left.
