Swedish Aero Beauty

My thanks to Robert for sending in these 9-3 pics as part of the NG900 and OG9-3 month.

Robert lives in northern Sweden and this is his 2002 9-3 Aero. It’s got 80,000kms on the clock and looks rather special in it’s snow gear.

There’s a NG900 cabrio reflected in one of the pics too. It belongs to a friend of Robert’s and is driven all year round. Only in a Saab.

  1. SAAB need to build a hatch again – not a sports wagon but a real hatch for which they are famous. Nothing offers the same mix of sporty looks and daily utility that my previous NG900 and 9-3 Viggen had.

  2. yes, i agree. regardless of how many sedans, wagons, or suv’s saab chooses to produce, there should always be a hatch offering. the hatch is part of saab’s roots.

  3. I saw two of these in the Washington DC area this week. Saw one at home yesterday. I love this car. BRING BACK THE HATCH!

(… but I’ll quietly suffer the reality that I’ll end up with a 2008 9-3 Aero SportCombi and GM will instead build Trollblazer v2.0, v3.0, v4.0 in Mexico and Moraine because they make more money on ’em.)

  4. Yes, this concept of a sporty “everyday car” is something SAAB and GM should have in the SAAB range – A classic SAAB thing!

  5. This shape is now almost 15 years old and yet with the right wheels/tyres and body kit it still looks current. I cannot think of a competitor design that can claim that. Its the 911 of family cars.

Saab – bring back the hatch, 3 & 5 door.
