Final US Bluetooth post

I don’t want to cover too much more on the recent GM-backed Bluetooth solution for Saab 9-3 and 9-5 owners. Frankly, I find the way it’s unfolding to be a little embarrassing.

The backstory: Until recently, there was no factory-backed Bluetooth solution for owners of early model 9-3SS owners, or 9-5 owners in the United States. Saab USA recently announced that this product, a Motorola unit, would be the preferred method of getting Bluetooth compatibility.

Whilst it seems to do the basics well enough, which I guess is the most important thing, there has been a couple of complaints, from the price of the unit (plus installation) to its limited functionality.

This final item should really set the little Trolls working on a truly integrated solution that’s factory fitted and built-in to the dash layout.

Why?

Because this just isn’t good enough if you ask me. It sticks out like the proverbial dog’s apparatus. This is a pic of the installed unit, as supplied by Haquem at SaabCentral. It’s not that it looks bad, per se, it just doesn’t look like it’s meant to be there.

Kudos to Saab for getting a Bluetooth solution out there that works for most people most of the time. But please get something that’s integrated into the next model.

This is an important feature for your typical Saab demographic.

  1. You can buy an aftermarket b/t kit and install it yourself – people have been doing it for years. That’s SAAB’s “solution”?
