There’s been a number of Saab vs Subaru items brought to my attention in the last 24 hours.
Some of you may seen the news on the revised Subaru Impreza. They’ve got rid of the controversial front end that looked passable on the Impreza and absolutely hideous on the Tribeca. As I was perusing SaabHistory earlier today though, it struck me where they got that nose from.
Here’s the offensive probiscus, looking not-quite-so-offensive on the Suuby Impreza (I would have shown the Tribeca, but this is a family blog):
And here’s a poster ad for the Saab 99 Turbo:
Notice the similar gaping holes in the front – except on the 99 it looks classic and on the Impreza it just looks…..OK, but much better than the hideous Tribeca.
The second thing is the new development in the brand new Impreza’s interior. This is to be unveiled in just a few hours in New York.
Is that a dash-top SID is see before me???
It seems Saab’s relationship with Subaru has provided them with at least some ideas about groovy interior design. It doesn’t look as good as the SID on the old 9-3, but IMHO it looks better than the SID on the current one 😉
