This could also fit under the heading “So you think you’re hardcore…..”
Last night I posted some images from an outing that a group of Saab nuts in Austria held together. They visited the Magna Steyr factory in Graz and it was noted that one of the participants was driving a 9-2x. Needless to say, this was quite unusual.
The post caught the eye of a guy named Wim in Germany, who shot me an email straight away as he’s looking to import a 9-2x into Germany to add to his Saab collection (I’ll get to that in a moment).
We think we may have found the guy with the 9-2x and if so, this posting is partially redundant. But in the event that we’re mistaken and the 9-2x owner is reading this, can you please get in touch with me via email? Wim would like to draw from your experience of getting a 9-2x into the country.
Now, on to that collection……
When Wim emailed me and included his current ownership list my eyes quickly lit up and my mind said “Dream Garage!!”.
Here’s the lineup to which he hopes to add a 9-2x. It’s not the biggest collection I’ve seen in terms of sheer volume, but it’s all quality. Have a read through this list and consider their position in the Saab pantheon.
2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen
1996 Saab 9000 Aero
1993 Saab 900 GT (I had to look this one up – super rare, apparently – SW)
1992 Saab 900 lpt Aero
1980 Saab 99 Turbo
And if that’s not enough, Wim’s father owns a couple of nice machines too.
2002 Saab 9-5
1989 Saab 900 T16 conv.
1980 Saab 96 final edition
What a list!!
Wim, I hope some photos can come through some time soon. What an epic collection.
