2008 Saab 9-3 order delays

Good news (mostly) has been published in a few Swedish news rags today. It’s good news for Saab, but it means that people ordering one will have to be a little patient due to………POPULAR DEMAND!!

Yes, Saabs are proving to be popular once again.

There’s a copy of it at both Tekniken’s Varld and DinaPengar and ctm has summarised the salient parts of the article as follows:

    – The time from order to delivery for the new Saab 9-3 is longer than Saab ever had on any model due to the demand. It’s currently at 3 months.

    – 84% of all orders are for the BioPower model.

    – 70% of the orders are for the 1.8 liter engine, but this could be due to the fact that the 2.0t has just been introduced.

All of this just goes to show that some responsible backing in terms of government policy can help make some changes. Thankfully, Saab’s well positioned to take advantage of this and is now reaping the reward for both good model development and innovation.

Good stuff, unless you’re chomping at the bit to get your new 9-3, of course.

  1. This 2008 bio-power convertible review should help its popularity even more.
“”It is so well poised and easily controlled that it feels as if the power doesn’t come through – until you glance down at your speedometer, have a minor coronary episode, and realise that that annoying buzzing sound that appeared in the background a while ago is the police helicopters trying to convince you to take it a little easier.”

  2. Haha. My fiance surely relates to that. She is convinced when the police pull her over in her 9-3 convertible that they won’t believe her when she says she honestly didn’t realize how fast she was going.
(she drives a 2002 9-3se convert by the way, a newer model will have to wait)

  3. I’ve been told 12 weeks for my next car, Specs below:
Vehicle: Saab 9-3 convertible aero 2.8 V6 Manual
    Colour: Snow Silver
    Options Parchment Leather,
    18″ V-spoke alloys with tpm
    Convenience plus pack
    Business pack
    Rear parking assistance
    Tyre pressure monitor

    I can’t wait 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. ‘salient’- I like that word Swade; another beautiful word in the English language, that you don’t hear very often.
‘precis’- nice ; haven’t heard it since my ‘British commonwealth’ high school days in Trinidad, when we were assigned to write a precis.

  5. Cheers Kroum

ehall1, the packs consist of the following:

    Convenience Plus Pack:

“Comfort opening” hood and front windows, rain sensor wipers, dual electric seats with driver’s memory , auto dimming interior mirror (ADM) and electric folding mirrors.

    Business Pack:

Saab Infotainment System (ES4-7) , audio system, Satellite Navigation with colour screen,7 speakers, Advanced Voice Recognition & Bluetooth phone integration system

  6. seems to be a reflection of how starved consumers are for new, authentic, more assertive-looking saab product. (gm, take note.)

  7. WOOHOO!! I’ve been told my car has been built and be with the Pre-Delivery Inspection guys this week. This should hopefully mean that I pick the new motor by the end of next week 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Yes, I’m smiling.

I’m going to try and take as many pics as possible at the handover. If they will let me that is, they are quite strict at the handover site due to the number of vehicles they have in preperation there.
