Jalopnik are having an unofficial Swedish day today.
First they ask what’s your favourite Swedish car? I was getting worried initially as there were a lot comments up front for Ovlov wagons, but Saab got its fair share of representation further down the list.
Secondly, their ongoing Project Car Hell series, where they ask readers to vote on two potential project cars that are on the market, pits the Saab Sonett III against a Volvo P1800ES.
Currently, the Volvo’s in the lead:
If it were the P1800 coupe I could almost understand. But the wagon?? The wagon managed to take the coupe lines and completely bastardise them. The P1800 is the only Volvo I’d ever consider owning, and that was if all my Saab projects were complete.
If you disagree with the current state of play in the vote and would like to show your support for the Sonett, then the voting page is here.
I’ve already slated the idea of getting a Sonett III and I think it’s going to be a TS project for the future. Not the near future, mind you, but 3 or 4 years down the track. Importing one will cost around $3K on top of the car, but with it being something so unique and rare here in Oz, it’s too tempting a prospect to ignore.
