Add Road and Track to the group of near-unanimous road testers that are loving the new Saab 9-3 so far. There’s been barealy a harsh word spoken in all the press we’ve seen up to now. The only extra thing we need is more press.
This one’s another ‘first drive’ type review based on R&T’s time spend in Sweden at the worldwide press launch for the car. As such it’s mostly an enthusiastic overview with few driving details (and some minor incorrect ones, at that). The driving talk is saved for their moments with the XWD and those considering holding out for XWD should feel encouraged.
Here’s a snippet:
A few blasts around Saab’s test course — incorporating muddy, rough surfaces, several paved slaloms and lane-change sections, and simulated icy pavement — legitimized factory claims that XWD is the new benchmark in all-wheel drive. It’s transparent until the going gets tough, when it steps in to ensure that the Aero’s rear end (or the front end, for that matter) doesn’t step out.
Check it out at the link above. I hope and trust that the full tests will be as favourable when they finally come around.
