Saab 9-5 Nordic Edition

I’m unsure as to which markets this will be for. The only Saab site that I could see the press release on was the Swedish site but I’m sure it’ll end up elsewhere as well.

Saab 9-5 Nordic Edition

Saab is celebrating its Scandinavian roots by adding an enhanced value Nordic Edition to the Saab 9-5 Sedan and SportCombi range for Model Year 2008.

Available as an upgrade for all Vector variants, the Nordic Edition* includes the following features as part of an extensive standard specification: a full leather sports interior, a leather/matte aluminum steering wheel, upgraded audio, cruise control, parking assistance, unique 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels and an auto-dimming rear- view mirror. The SportCombi also includes matte aluminum roof rails and a storage tray under the rear cargo floor.

Offering a choice of two Saab BioPower engines, the Saab 9-5 continues to be Sweden’s best selling ‘flex-fuel’ vehicle. The range is available for the new model year in three specifications, Linear, Vector and Aero, with an all-turbo engine line-up offering 150 (110 kW) to 260 hp (191 kW).

Other enhancements include:

– Color-keyed exterior door handles, sill extensions and rubbing strips standard across the range
– Metallic, ‘dark steel’ fascia and interior trim introduced in Vector variants
– Luxury, premium natural leather upholstery offered an option
– New 16-inch alloy wheels offered for Linear and Vector variants
– New 17-inch alloy wheels offered for Vector and Aero variants
– Two new metallic colors, pepper green and snow silver.
– Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TMS) optional for Aero models

* Details may vary according to market.

  1. Not sure if this is the “Viking Funeral” (sending this generation of 9-5 off into the sunset with all sorts of go-fast bits) that has been called for on this blog by Swade, but if so, it falls a bit short. Instead of Nordic Tuning’s powertrain updates (which is what I was hoping for when I read the headline) what we have here is Saab’s take on a Wolfsburg Edition VW– modest trim and paint tweaks. C’mon Saab– give the old girl the sendoff it deserves. Hirsch all around!!

  2. Well, we know it won’t be for the North American market (U.S., Canada, Mexico), where the 9⁵ isn’t available in Vector trim (only Aero). And then there’s the whole “offering a choice of two SAAB BioPower engines” thing…

Will the inevitable 9⁵ “Swade Edition” be available in Combi guise? I want that one. But it has to have those custom black pearl headlight surrounds like we saw in that pic Swade took in the SAAB car park in Sweden. Really, I want it to look just like the BioPower 100. White leather and “best taillights ever” and all. 🙂

  3. I have to agree a beauty and wish in would make it’s way to states. The 9-5 may be old in form, but I would take it over any “new” car in it’s class. Awesome pic.
