Saab Global Snapshot – November 2007

The following video is of the presentation made by Saab Automobile’s top dude, Jan-Ake Jonsson.

It was recorded at the Australian launch of the 2008 Saab 9-3 range, in Melbourne, on November 2nd, 2007.

This presentation is an overview of Saab’s performance and current market offering, but it also gives a few news-type items as well, such the possibility of Saab going with all BioPower or diesel models in the Swedish market. There’s a few other newsy items there as well. It makes for interesting listening and is just over 15 minutes in length.

I also recorded a one-on-one interview with Jan-Ake Jonsson, which I’ll be presenting as a podcast in a few days time.

As they like to say over there in Detroit – Stay tuned.

  1. If Saab’s best year ever was last year and they sold 133K vehicles, and in order to get into the black they’re going to have to sell 150K – 175K cars consistently for several years, when do they think that’s going to be? When the 9-4X supplants the 9-7X in the lineup? When the 9-1 is introduced in 2011?

For some reason (possibly the stupid wi-fi internet access at the hotel I’m at) the video stopped at 10:23, so I missed the last couple minutes. Is that when he announced they’re caving to TS pressure and are bringing back the hatch? 😮

  2. Oops, make that 13:23 when my video stopped. Also, I forgot to thank you for providing this video, Swade.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a “warm and fuzzy” feeling from this presentation. I don’t know what he could have said to make me feel better, but it feels like more “we know what we’re doing now, just wait” propaganda.

  3. My thoughts upon viewing this video to end was: “well, Steve Jobs he isn’t”. That was a boring delivery, and I doubt the message he carried was delivered optimaly.
