For those who love shopping, especially in the US, today is Black Friday. It’s the day after Thanksgiving, the traditional start to the Christmas shopping season and more recently, the season for an internet shopping bonanza. For those who do love to shop, I thought I’d help you see the day in with a fanfare, provided by the Saab Black Turbo Orchestra. I love a good exhaust note…….. — — — — —— And a note to self…… I’ve got to get some seat time in a Turbo X. I’ve only driven it once and the more I see them, […]
This letter is in Swedish, so like me, most of you won’t be able to read it. But this is the letter Swedish customers receive to confirm that they’ve been allocated one of the 175 Saab Turbo X’s that will be sold in Sweden. Kenneth’s one lucky guy. Oh, what I’d give to be able to get one of these letters…..
Here’s a fun circular story for you… A few days ago I got an email from a guy wondering if a sunroof came standard on the Saab Turbo-X. I replied that I was pretty sure it did, and that there should be a decent specs list in the Turbo X archives. Guy emails back. He’d confirmed the sunroof issue with his dealer and placed his order for one! And the dealer concerned was site sponsor, Saab of Hunterdon, in New Jersey. It was their first Turbo X order and everone concerned is very happy at the outcome. They’ve even got […]
Using today’s exchange rate, US$42,510 converts to €28,804.73. Don’t let me hear anyone in the US complain about the high price of the Saab Turbo X again…. Saab Netherlands have just issued a press release on the new high performance Saab and they’re pleased to announce that the first orders for the car have already been taken. A number of orders have been placed here in Australia too, and they were placed prior to the price being known. I assume that would be the case in the Netherlands, too. Prospective Dutch owners would therefore be interested to know that the […]
My apologies to all who had trouble accessing the website yesterday. My hosting company, Media Temple, did some major server maintenance to upgrade power supplies, or something like that. I knew there might be some interruptions to service, but it seems the site was offline for around 8 hours or so. On the positive side, it allowed me an early night, and after a day trying to rid our garden of some of the most stubborn plants i’ve ever met, I needed it. —— It’s a beautiful day here today. It’s the ideal day to grab your new digital SLR […]
The Saab Turbo X recently made it’s US debut at the New Englad Auto Show in Boston. John delRosario was there for Trollhattan Saab and I’d like to thank him for providing such a great recap of the event, along with some magnificent photos. Click on any of his great images to enlarge them – and check out the full gallery here. —— On Tuesday November 27th Steve Shannon unveiled what SAAB hopes will remind current and past SAAB owners what it meant to own one of those “Black turbos” that used to be as prevalent as the 3 series, […]
I’ve had a couple of links come through via email to this video overnight. Thanks to all who sent them through. You’ve all probably seen the video I shot with Kenneth Backlund from the Saab Performance Team at the 9-3 launch event in Sweden back in June. This new video was also shot at the same event, using the same car(s) and on the exact same track. The great thing about this video is that they must have had heaps of cameras there because there’s a lot of external shots as the car progresses around the track. Enjoy.
UPDATE – Click here to view a comparison between the Saab Turbo X and the Saab 9-3 Aero with XWD. —— I’ve got a lot of information about the 2008 Saab Turbo X scattered in various posts on this website. I think it’s high time that all the important stuff is combined into one big article on the car. This IS the mother of all Turbo-X entries with heaps of information from styling to specs, from XWD drive to Xclusivity, as well as a big gallery of photos at the end. So, without any further ado, here’s the book on […]
There’s a bunch of articles coming out about the Turbo X debut in the US. Most of them are re-hashes of the press release and don’t offer anything new. It’s good to see them there as the more coverage it receives, the better. But the good ones are from the people who were actually there and talked to people and got some fresh insights. GM invited a bunch of bloggers there. Some were auto-related and some really made me scratch my head. Here’s a few tidbits I’ve picked up just this morning… From Edmunds Auto Observer: Also on hand for […]
The press day for the New England Auto Show finished up earlier today and Johnny Del and Jeff P were there for Trollhattan Saab. Initial reports indicate that had an absolute cracker of a time and will report in with their full thoughts in a few days. I have received a few initial photos, however, which look fantastic. UPDATE: Now with big, beautiful and enlargeable pictures. Click ’em.
