Happy New Year 2008

Definitely a candidate for worst photoshop job ever, but regardless, HAPPY NEW YEAR. The 2008 Saab 9-3 is now this year’s model. Time to look forward to 2009…..

The Trollhattan Saab 2007 review – the top 9 stories.

Ummmm….I was going to do a year in review entry where I sort through the five biggest stories of each month in 2007. That’d be sixty stories linked here. Not gonna happen. I have a bathroom to paint today, plus, there was over 1,000 entries written on this blog this year. Actually, we’re up to 3,667 entries and over nearly 26,000 comments now. Phew! So here’s what I see as the Top 9 Saab stories of 2007. These are in no particular order. —— 1 – Diesel comes to Australia This makes the list becuase it’s a case study in […]

And so this is Christmas….

OK, feel free to fess up and spill the beans on what you got for Christmas. Did the fat guy in the red suit treat you well or not? Were you naughty or nice? Me? I’m happy. No Saab related presents at all, but plenty of food and a good time had by all. For the record, presents were few in number, but valued: Jeremy Clarkson DVD – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Socks (well, duh!) Smoked salmon (ironic as I don’t eat sea food but the person works at a salmon farm) Contributions toward me flying to […]

Merry Christmas Snippets

Some of you may have come across Brendan B in comments, and some of you would have met him in Sweden as he was part of the Aussie contingent at the Saab Festival back in June. He’s down here in Tassie with his family this week and we caught up yesterday, visiting with Drew B and Saabill. Bill even let me take my old 99 Turbo for a spin! Unfortunately, I neglected to take my camera with me. Which was a real shame as the day involved my 900 Turbo, a 1973 Saab 95, a 1977 Saab 96, a 1971 […]

New email address

I’m a big boy now!! I’ve finally configured my email properly and set up my TS email. It was always available so I figured I better start using it. If you’ve got something to say, please feel free to send it to swade-at-trollhattansaab.net, replacing -at- with @ as usual. —— This arose out of my need to print business cards prior to the Detroit Auto Show. I also figured it would look better on my application for media credentials. I feel so very grown up!

Friday Night Snippets

Gripen will be so pleased – I’m about to watch An Inconvenient Truth. Expect a plethora of Saab Hybrid posting tomorrow. —— Speaking of Saab hybrids, apparently they already have them in field trials. Cleantech Blog is saying they’re already underway, though there’s no backup evidence there. Perhaps they are referring to the project Saab are currently seeking funding for in conjunction with Volvo. —— December 31st is the last day where you can claim your million-mile Saab replacement. But it’s not the only deadline looming for some Saab owners. February 2008 will see the wind-up of the old analog […]

Subaru Update: it was great customer service while they still thought I was a customer…

The backstory is here. The update is that I figured it was best to tell the Subaru rep who I was, and that I wouldn’t be driving the car as a prospective customer at all, but rather using it for evaluation and comparative purposes. I didn’t want to accept the offer under false pretences. And in the 24 hours since I sent that email…… *silence* – *TV test pattern* – *tumbleweeds* ….so it appears that whilst Suuby truly were showing great customer service instincts, they didn’t want one of their cars in the hands of a Saab blogger for a […]

Goals fulfilled – the things I wanted for 2007

ctm’s reminded me that back on December 31st, 2006, I did a post entitled 9 Saaby things I want for 2007. How did it go? Read on…. 1) Fix my front shocks I’d blown my front shocks in the Viggen earlier in the month. They got fixed in January and the car was running like a dream, until I crashed it in July. Oops. No prizes for guessing what #1 will be in the forthcoming entry 9 Saaby things I want for 2008. 2) 10 movies I definitely got more than 10 movies added to Youtube and Google Video this […]

Friday Snippets

It’s official – the BMW X6 is considered by a majority of people to be as ugly as a bashed crab. That’s 83% of the vote there. —— It seems that in this new media age, car companies are managing their auto show unveilings more actively now, with a whole slew of releases coming online well before the Detroit Show. The biggest one so far has been the new Corvette ZR1 (hat tip to Jeff!) and it’s causing all sorts of drool-induced computer breakdowns. But that’s just one. Hit the Detroit tag at the press release specialists, Autoblog, and there’s […]

Memo to GM Australia – THIS is customer service

How about this for a stark contrast to the difficult experience Tony R had with Saab Oz in getting a delivery date for his 2008 Saab 9-3. Part 1 – I rake Subaru over the coals for what I (still) believe to a deceptive advertisement placed in a magazine here in Australia. Part 2 – Subaru respond with their side of the story. I don’t agree with it, but if a statutory authority hauled them over the coals they’d likely have a technically correct defence. Part 3 – I get this via email from Subaru: Dear Steven, I understand you […]
